Information we collect
- Account and contact information: your email address for verification and, only if you opt in, occasional project updates.
- Participation information: your self-reported state, Agree/Disagree/Pass choices, optional written context, and optional statement suggestions.
- Security information: privacy-protected device, browser, and network signals used to reduce duplicate participation. The duplicate-participation system stores one-way hashes rather than a raw IP address.
- Technical records: hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, request details, and device information in ordinary security and delivery logs.
How we use information
We use information to verify participants, save responses, prevent duplicate or abusive participation, display aggregated results, maintain security, improve the service, and send updates when a person has chosen to receive them.
What becomes public
Only aggregated response patterns are public, and only after a minimum reporting threshold is met. We do not publish email addresses, individual votes, written explanations, security hashes, or personal profiles.
When information is shared
We use service providers to operate the site, including Supabase for authentication and database services, Resend for email delivery, and hosting, content-delivery, and security providers. They may process information only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the service and its users.
We do not sell personal information. We do not provide political responses to campaigns, data brokers, or advertisers for individual targeting.
Browser storage, analytics, and advertising
The site uses local browser storage for verification and duplicate-participation safeguards. At launch, the site does not use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics. If those practices change, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before the change takes effect.
Retention and security
We keep participation records for as long as they support the project’s research, integrity, and historical reporting purposes. Security and delivery logs may have shorter provider-controlled retention periods. We use access controls, encrypted connections, and one-way hashing for duplicate-prevention signals, but no online service can promise absolute security.
Your choices
Marketing updates are optional. You may unsubscribe using the link in any marketing message. You may also request access, correction, or deletion of personal information associated with your email, subject to identity verification and legal or integrity-related exceptions. Removing identifying account data may not require removal of permanently de-identified aggregate statistics.
Children
The service is intended for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised version here and change the effective date. Material changes will be highlighted on the site or communicated to participants when appropriate.
